| Hidden Potential in the Gotta Pixel Gallery written by Stacy Carlson For many people, forums and galleries can be a daunting world to navigate around. There are many things that are not always visible on first view, and even to those who have been using them for a while, each site has their areas set up differently. Today I am going to show you some of the "not so visible" things that Gotta Pixel has to help you in the the gallery. The first thing you always need to do is make sure you are logged in. You can do this in the top right hand side of the gallery where it says "User Name" and "Password" Tip #1 If you want to stay logged in every time you visit Gotta Pixel, click the Remember Me? box and this will set a cookie on your computer (no milk needed) so that whenever you come back to Gotta Pixel, you don't have to re-log in. When you are viewing the gallery, and there is a layout that you love and would like to bookmark, scroll down below the layout and click on this icon . By doing this, you will add the layout to your favorites. If you go to the Gallery Toolbar (This toolbar is at the top of the screen and starts with My Photos), find the My Favorites, and click on it, you will find everything you added to your favorites there. While in My Favorites, if you click the icon, you can save everything that is in your favorites to your hard drive. To see your gallery, go to the Gallery Toolbar and click on My Photos. This will pull up everything that you have uploaded to Gotta Pixel. On this page it will display the name of the layout, your username, when the layout was uploaded and how many comments there are for your layout. We encourage everyone to take a few minutes and comment on layouts that really stand out to you. To leave a comment on a layout, simply click on the small version of the layout so that the larger version loads and scroll to the very bottom where it says Comments:. All you have to do is type in your comment and press Submit. You have just left someone a warm fuzzy! The number one thing we are asked how to do, is how to get a linked thumbnail into posts in the forum. Our gallery is set up so that it makes this task very easy. Find the layout you want to link to and directly below the layout, find the words Linked Thumbnail. Click once on that long string of code that starts with [url=. Clicking this once will highlight it. Now, with your keyboard, press CTRL+ C (copy) or right click on the highlighted code and pick COPY. Now, go to the thread where you want the linked thumbnail to be, right click and PASTE (or CTRL+V) and the code will be in your reply in the thread. When you submit your post, the thumbnail will be there, linked to your layout in the gallery! One final tip. There are a ton of shortcuts for you in the top yellow menu bar that starts with USERCP. If you click on the Gallery link, a drop down box will appear with links that will take you to the gallery, allow you to quickly upload a layout, show you today's layouts, show you all of Gotta Pixel designer's galleries, show you all the challenge galleries and allow you to search the gallery. 1 1 |
