Last week I gave everyone the challenge of taking photos of the progression of fall colors outside your door.  illinimom and Okiebug took some wonderful photo for last weeks challenge.

For this week's assignment, we are still focusing on those fall colors.  You can read the tips I posted last week about taking fall photos here.  For this week I want you to focus on leaves.  Capture the color, their movement, their depth and shadows.  Anything that catches your eye.  Try to use shadows to give the image even more depth.

Here is a photo I took of a leaf on our back patio.

Photos should be taken between October 7 - 13.

Today's Technique, Shadows

In most cases, shadows are not an effect that we want in our photos, however, shadows can create some very dramatic and inspiring variations to a photo.

Natural light is going to give you the best shadows, but any light source can make great shadows.  As with fall photography, taking the photos in the morning and late afternoon are the most ideal times.  Try to make the shadow your main subject.  Take a photo of your own shadow, a shadow of a building.  Use silhouettes!

Are ready for another awesome Brag Book Exchange? Once again, three of our wonderful Gotta Pixel designers got together this month to make a cute little mini kit for you all!! The only requirement for getting it is that you have to agree to make one brag book sized (4 x 6 at 300 dpi) page with it. Take a peek at the adorable mini kits made by Beth Kern, Kathryn Estry and Kristmess:

From now through October 11th, we will be taking sign ups for the October Brag Book Exchange. Everyone that signs up has to agree to make one brag book sized page with the kit provided. After sign ups close on October 11th, I will go through the sign ups and pm all the participants the links and passwords to all three pieces of the mini kit.

You will have from then through the 17th of October to make a 4 x 6 page with these mini kits only. You are allowed to use one of the matching for sale kits that a designer may make to coordinate with this if one is available. Any such kits will be listed at the bottom of this post. If you are leaving an open space for a picture, we ask that you are able to cut out the space for one. If you don't know how to do this, please include that information in your email when you send your page. If you need a space cut out, make sure the area you want out is clear and doesn't have any embellishments in the way.

You will send your completed page back to me, and I will package up all the pages. I will then send out ALL of the completed pages to everyone who sent one in!! That's a lot of pages!!
