It's an ABC Challenge!!

This is the second challenge of our ABC Challenge Series! I will be providing an upper and lower case alphabet element. You are not required to use this prop but you are required to use the letter assigned for that week somewhere in your LO. All of the provided elements will be identical so that at the end of the A-Z challenge you will have a complete set of alphas if you choose to download them.

This weeks letter is... the letter "B". Please use this letter somewhere in your LO... be as creative as you would like! :)

I needed to re-create my first LO - and chose to do it for the "B" challenge. The original was flat, rectangular, and created as a .jpg. This one is square, has shadows, and was first saved as a .psp file.

when you click on the above link.. another window will open.. you will then see thumbnails of the different props available. Click on the thumbnail titled... "ABC Challenge 9 Alpha." A new window will open.. you will click on "accept" ... the zip file should appear... be sure you make note of the password (beauty) to open the file. If you have any other problems please let me know.

I too cannot open the file. I click and there is no download button just a larger view! I have tried all the files in the catagory and cannot open any of them! Help!

twrightgirl an scrappistaci... have you registered?.. you must be a registered user to dl the files. In the meantime I will let admin know you are having problems downloading and hopefully we can get this worked out!

You should still be able to dl the prop... I'm not sure what the difficulty is.. I have a message sent off to admin to see if we can figure this out...

You will want to save this as a web ready picture. It was a different saving technique in Microsoft Picture It. I wasn't familiar with it either - until I was having trouble uploading my first LO last night.

First of all.. I apologize for being so late posting and sending your rewards for this challenge. I've been sick and this is my first day back.. you gals have been busy!!!!... and THANK YOU for all the beautiful LO's posted!! I have so enjoyed looking at each of them! :)

Hi Nimble4U and Sweetscraps...

I use PSE 3.0 and 4.0 ... so I can tell you how I resize using those programs and maybe it will help you.. :)

I save my LO to the resized jpeg format while it is still in PSD (layers) Here is what I do..

Resize your LO by going to: IMAGE--RESIZE--IMAGE SIZE ... this will open a new window... Image Size.... the window should say...

Pixel Dimensions:

Width= 3600
Height= 3600

Document size:

Width = 12
Height= 12
Resolution= 300

Under "Pixel Dimensions" .. change the width and height to 500. Do not change anything else in this window.... click "OK"

It will resize the LO to a very small thumbnail.. do not worry about this.. the next step will size it to a viewable and uploadable size.

With the thumbnail active... go to: FILE--SAVE AS.... the "save as" window appears...

select the location to save your file..
select the name for your file... (if you haven't already)
and select jpeg format from the drop down window.

Click on "save".... another window opens... JPEG Options...

under "Image Options" you will see a slider bar. Use this bar to select the quality of compression you want. I usually set mine anywhere from 7-10. At the bottom of this window is the "Size" .. this will tell you the approximate size of the saved file... the first number is the size... (eg: 128.7K) you want this number to be below 125K since it is just an approximate. The file will save abit larger then what is shown. Sometimes you just have to play with it and see which compression rate best suits the file you are saving.

Once you do this... click on OK and the file will be saved to the location you selected. Locate your file and move your curser over it.. this should tell you the exact size of the file.

I hope this was not too confusing and was helpful in resizing your LO's... :)
