to the digital world. Been a paper scrapper for over 7 yrs.
Since I am downloading digital elements and kits now I am having trouble organizing everything!!! How do you do it? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I have everything in a digital folder on my desktop but I have to search and search to find the element/color/ paper etc that I want to use. There has got to be an easier way to organize all of this.

Also...when I download I show a file with the zipper, yeah I know I have to unzip and extract my files..that part is done. But then I have 2 files with the same thing..one unzipped and one with the zipper. Can something be deleted? I saw a thread about the zipped files, but I don't really understand all the lingo yet.

TIA! :)

I organize by site then by designer and kit title.

momofgjc,

You CAN delete the zip file, but if you have the storage space, a lot of people like to keep the zips in a seperate file. Just in case they lose a file or something, they can go back and unzip it again.

Organization...
for the basics.....
as long as files are named properly, such as they are here at GP, I put them in folders by what they are.
(I want all my elements named by the person who created them, so I can give proper credit. Can U believe some people don't do this...lol).
I have a folder for Ribbons, Stitches, and Fibers.
One for buttons, brads, and eyelets.
One for clips, prongs, and staples.
One for word art.
One for transparencies and overlays.
One for flowers.
Etc....

I also have one for backgrounds.

I like to keep my previews in a seperate file, so that if I am looking for something specific, I can look at this file, and then go to the folder that it's in.
I also keep my Terms of Use in a seperate file, so that I can easily look up what the terms are.
