Howdy...

I can make an element at 300 dpi, and 4 inches.
When I save it in png format, it saves it at 72 dpi, and 12 something inches.

Also, on any items from other people's kits, even tho they were made at 300 dpi, my photoshop opens it at a larger inch size, and at 72 dpi's.

In BOTH cases, the pixel sizes are the same. So my 4 inch item at 300 dpi would be 1200 pixels.

Now, after I have saved it, and reopen it, it opens at 5.556 inches and 72 dpi, but still with the 1200 pixels.

Does ANYONE know how I can set up my Adobe Photoshop to SAVE my images, and open them, at the original file size they were created in....in this case, the 300 dpi.

I don't have a problem with this personally...I can just resize them, and they are still the same high quality, but for things that I make that I offer to others, I would really LOVE to be able to have them saved at the 300 dpi.

TIA for any help with this!

Gosh Lynne. I am not sure but I am sure someone can help. Have you checked the save settings? I will play around with PSE I have 4 so I dont know if it will be different than what you have but I will if I cant figure something out to help!

Ok Lynne! I am as confused as you! I went into PSE4 and created a new template at 4 inches by 4 inches and 300 dpi. I made what I wanted and then I saved it and when I opened it it was opened at 4x4x300dpi. I even tried opening it with DIP and it did the same thing. Have you tried going into edit, then prefrences and then General and click reset? maybe some setting is different that shouldnt be. Also under edit and prefrences there is a saving files tab. you can also reset that! I hope this helps some!!

HI Monica...
Thanks much for trying to help!
Both Michelle and Linda are trying to help me too.....:-D

I think u've all hit it on the head, as far as in my settings.
The problem is now, that PSE is different under the preferences catagory, and I don't have the option to change the resolution, as PSE does.

So, now I have to TRY and find where that option would be in Photoshop.
It MUST be somewhere...but heck if I can find it...lol.

THANKS so much for trying! Back to the drawing board.....

For Photoshop try going into the Edit Menu, Preferences, then Units & Rulers. There are setting for "New Document Preset Resolutions". That might help. Change the setting to 300 pixels/inch.

Let us know if that works. :)

Hi Catwoman.
Unfortunately, my PS6 doesn't have that option. Sure would be nice if it did....lol.
Now, my ELEMENTSdid have that option, so I was able to change it there.
So, now all I have to do is...
Create my "stuff" in PS6 (at 300 dpi of course, and at the right inch size), then save it. Then reopen every file with PSE, size it back to it's orginal dpi and size, and resave it.
LOTS of extra work, but I guess it's better than not having any program at all.....lol.

THANKS MUCH for trying :-D
