Hi! Just for fun this week, when you send in your answer to Terry (withnuts) and post here, tell us a memory you have from your school years. ^-^Should be fun to read.

Do something else for us. Let your online friends know about this game. Just send this to them and ask them to join us:
http://www.gottapixel.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=247

This month is all about the beginning of school for many of us, so I'm featuring my school sets, Making the Grade (http://www.gottapixel.net/forum/../store/product.php?productid=24219&cat=0&page=1) and Kindergarten Kisses (http://www.gottapixel.net/forum/../store/product.php?productid=25&cat=0&page=1). The numerals this month were made to go with those sets and would work for layouts with children in any grade at school. Send in the right answer every week, and you'll get the full matching alpha at the end of the month!

http://www.gottapixel.net/forum/local_resize.php?linkid=5246&size=0 (http://javascript%3cb%3e%3c/b%3E:void%280%29;)

How to play:
Just figure out the one right answer to the puzzle, send a PM to withnuts (http://www.gottapixel.net/forum/private.php?do=newpm&u=9480) with the right answer, and she'll send you a link to a zip file which includes a full set of numerals 0-9. The file is password protected, so she'll give you the password, too. :) Even though you'll only win the numerals once during the month, make sure to come back each week and continue playing.

Bonus Prizes:
If you like these numerals, make sure to play over and over this month. Every person who turns in the right answer every week this month will win the full alphabet!

Also, at the end of each month, I'll be giving away a free kit of the winner's choice. The more you play, the better your chances of winning. ^-^ Also, creating layouts with the number frames and posting links to your layouts in this thread increases your chances.

Note ~ This month's game will have 5 weeks in it. :)

(Team members, please continue to play as always, and you can still win the numerals and the full alpha, but the free kit will go to someone not on the Gotta Pixel team.)

Click *HERE* (http://www.gottapixel.net/forum/showthread.php?t=6184) for basic information.

For this puzzle, you might want to read *MY HINTS PAGE* (http://www.gottapixel.net/forum/showthread.php?t=28949). Check the hints if you're not sure about prime numbers.

Clues:

1. It is a 5-digit whole number.

2. It is an even number.

3. Only 2 digits are larger than 1.

4. The sum of the 5 digits is 14.

5. The tens digit is one greater than the thousands digit.

6. The ones digit is the same as the hundreds digit.

7. The tens digit is a prime number greater than 5.

How my students solve these puzzles: Try writing 5 lines on your paper and putting possible numbers under each. Mark out numbers as you go ‘til you get the answer. Check THIS (http://www.gottapixel.net/forum/showthread.php?t=28950)out to see what I mean.

When you solve the puzzle, send Terry a Private Message with your answer. Click withnuts (http://www.gottapixel.net/forum/private.php?do=newpm&u=9480) to send. Do not reveal the answer in this thread as that will end the game for the week. This puzzle will go through the week, and I'll post another one next Saturday.

Terry and I hope all of you come back to play each week, and send your friends here as well! Let's sharpen those brain cells while we have fun AND get a little reward in the process! Thanks for being part of the fun here at Gotta Pixel!

Sent my guess Terry.
One of my school memories is that when I was in school, girls always wore dresses. A nice new plaid dress for the school year was always a special treat in grade school. Yes, it's been a long time ago - LOL

I do remember the plaid dresses, Joan!

I also remember teaching at my elementary school, Alleman Elem. in Lafayette, La. It was really weird to be in the lounge and workroom with teachers I had had only a few years before. That was back in the days of mimeograph machines. I went home so many days with purple on my hands. I LOVED when Xerox came out and we could pitch those old machines and all our old purple teacher books.

What a great idea to share remembrances of school, Kathryn! I, too, remember wearing ONLY dresses to school. My how things have changed! I remember having to wear high topped sneakers for gym class, too. Oh, how I hated them!

I sent in my answer! There isn't any one thing that stands out to me about school. I remember my mom taking us clothes shopping for our new fall clothes. Not always my favorite thing since I didn't always like some of the things my mom liked so it took a while to find stuff. (Hate turtlenecks - still do) :)

I remember having to have a gym outfit - white blouse and red shorts - and we had to embroider our names on the collar of the blouse and the hem of the shorts. We also had to have the clothes laundered and pressed on Mondays, or our grade would go down.

Wonderful layout, Maryann. I hope that some more of you will be posting layouts before the end of the month. Remember that there are 5 weeks this month, so next week will be the last game of the month.

I'm really enjoying reading about your school memories. Brings back a lot of memories for me as well. It's hard to remember back so far when you're as old as I am!

Sent you my answer, Terry.

School memories. Would you believe that was REALLY a very long time ago. LOL I graduated from high school 50 years ago. A really good and recent memory is our 50th Class Reunion celebrated this past year.
And for a numbers related memory ... my friends coming to my house for my help with our Algebra and Geometry homework. They would be so lost by the teacher's explanation of how to solve the problems. I seemed to have the knack of explaining it in a different way so that it made sense to them.

Got my answer in! I can't think of any particular school memory. Though my days certainly sound different from the other posters - no special attire, no ironing police. Thank goodness because I HATE to iron. I either buy wrinkle free or go wrinkled. :)

Sending you mail, Terry. What I can hardly believe today is that we were never allowed to wear slacks to school-always skirts and somewhere around 7th grade nylon stockings every day-even when I first started teaching. Today-well I have a couple skirts in my closet for those rare occasions I need them. Mini skirts came in the second year I taught and I remember the male teacher in the room next to mine asking me to talk to the girls in his class about how to sit properly. He was doing all his teaching from the back of his room.

I totally remember the gym suits except mine was an all-in-one thing that yes, had to be ironed - no embroidered names though. They started allowing pants for girls the year after I graduated and went to college where there was no dress code. No fair! In high school, our skirt lengths were checked by kneeling. The hemline couldn't be more than 3" off the floor. Boy, times have changed! lol

Oh, I remember the gym suits, too, and having to kneel to have our skirt lengths checked! I remember having to wear nylong stockings every day, too, and that was way before pantyhose! If I didn't feel old before, I sure do now! lol

This thread is a trip down memory lane -- a long ago memory lane. I remember walking to my unairconditioned Texas elementary school. How did I survive the heat? I don't even remember it being hot. I also remember the gym jumpsuits, having to wear dresses & hose every day. Then there was the mini skirts and long haired guys.

At any rate -- I've sent my answer to you Terry.

Before we could do domestic science (food stuff) we had to make our own aprons.
I hated sewing it took me months to get my hands on the food.
They still allowed me in the class though but I had to do all the horrible jobs like washing down the cupboards.
It was like slave labour!! :(
Thinking back now it was in the dark ages lol :D

I've sent my answer!

Terry, you've got mail!

This is so great reading everyone's memories.
My sister who is two years older than I, had to wear the one piece jumpsuit with snaps on it for gym class, but lucky me that stopped the year I entered High School! Just White T-shirt and Shorts, and hmmmm? I think I can smell Secret deodorant right now just thinking of gym class! I think it was the only one girls wanted because it was "made for a WOMAN"! :D

My parents were always a few years behind all the other parents, even when the school said we could wear pants my sisters and I didnt' get to. Then when the school said girls could now wear JEANS my folks finally let us wear pants but only nice, dressy slacks. "Jeans are for working on the farm or for camping" I don't believe my mother has EVER owned a pair of jeans! Poor gal! ??? LOL
My dad would have chained us all to our bed posts and made my mom homeshcool us if he was raising us in this day and age! The way the styles have gone over the last 20 years is really scarey! Okay, I'll stop. I could write a book, well at least a 500 word essay. :o
*School Days, school days good ol' golden rule days, la la la la*....Peace O0

The only memory I have from school is I did not like math..but as I went away to college and married, I realized that everything in our life has something to do with math so now I am aware that math can be fun.
Have a gret week...Marty

Sending mine in right away. As for a fav school memory - the many times travelling around with our sports teams. I went to a very small school so there were about 5 of us girls that did everything together (volleyball, basketball, badminton, and baseball - when we could get enough extra players to join us LOL). We had some fun times - sure do miss those days! :)

A memory from school?...geez that was a long time ago..let's see, in Michigan there are trees everywhere and we would go on field trips, walks through the forest (which was just acoss the street) and collect leaves...then we'd take them back and preserve them in wax paper....then mount and classify them....in this particular school we did alot of this...but as I went to a lot of different schools in different places, there are many different experiences but I like remembering about this....and it's good fall memory....thanks to Kathryn and Terry for giving space for these trips down memory lane..........hugs Kathi:D

I'm sending mine in.

Every year as school started, my books would be perfectly ruled up and so neatly written, and as the year progressed the workbooks deteriorated. I loved those first few weeks of neatness.

I remember there was a chart that tracked when you had your multiplication tables memorized and getting stars on it when for each number. The other memory that stands out is one year there were 3 Beths and the teacher wanted me to go by Elizabeth and I absolutely refused.

My school memory...Our family moved to a new state during the summer after my 7th grade. At the end of the school year that year, my teacher arranged for a going away party for me. To get the room ready, our class was sent to the playground that afternoon. Somehow, though, I didn't hear that the class was called to come back in. I was playing at one end of the playground (our church parking lot) and I turned around to find that the whole class had already gone back into the building!

I love the memories! Even it they seemed little at the time, they made an impression, and you still remember! Thanks so much for sharing!

I've got to run out for a bit today and won't be posting the next game for a couple of hours. Continue to play this week's game, and please check back mid afternoon for our next ~ and last ~ math game this month!

Gotta Love Math!
