Hello, My name is Angie Thornton from Whitby, Ontario, Canada. Just recently discovered this amaking hobby. I love it. Any pointers on programs to use would be greatly appreciated. I have almost completed my first page and is a 12 x 12. My question is where do you go to have these printed and what be the best paper stock to use.
I have used Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop Elements and love them both. Photoshop Elements has some great effects and is usually pretty afforable.

I use PSP X. I'm creating my layouts as 12 x12, but, as of now I'm printing them at home as 8 x 8 . I really like this size. I got out my 12 x 12 paper scrapbook yesterday and man that thing looks huge now that I've been doing the 8 x 8.
Right now I'm using Jet Print ( Wal-Mart's cheapest) Premium High Gloss. My prints look really good and the price is right. $15 for 50 sheets.
There are a couple of stores that do 12 x 12 printing, I believe Costco is one. There are places on line as well, Shiny Nickels is one place. Just remember when your 12 x 12 are
printed they will have a white border all the way around. This is so you don't lose any of the image.

I have both Paint Shop Pro X and Photoshop Elements 4.0. So far, I still prefer Paint Shop Pro X, it's what I've used for so many years. Each program has it's pros and cons. Which is why I use them both.
I normally take my layouts to Kinko's to get them printed, but there are some sites on the web you get layouts printed in 12x12 format. Here recently I discovered 8x8 scrapbooks are very easy to get so I'm going with 8x8 printing, such a space saver over the 12x12 books.
By the way, this hobby is seriously addicting!! Hope you enjoy it and glad to have you around Gotta Pixel!

Hi All - A MAJOR newbie here. I'm just curious, is it more cost effective to have it professionally printed (i.e., Kinko's, Online websites, etc.) as opposed to printing it yourself? I'm thinking about all the cartridges one must go through. Yikes.

I have heard rumors about a special home printer that would work for the 12 X 12. Has anyone else heard of this? I'm sure if there's one out there, it's very expensive.
