Anyone have a clue how to go about learning this tricky little devil??
Any good books or websites to point me to?
OOh, one more question! I see in a lot of tuts that they mention turning on my cameras fill flash. Umm, is that the same as the automatic flash that the camera does, or is there something I'm missing??

Can't help you with the white balance, Gary but fill flash refers to adding some light in when, perhaps, you have lots of shadow or contrast. For example...say you're out in the sun and your subject's faces are dark because you are facing the sun as the photographer. Well, you can manually put on your flash (which would ordinarily not discharge because the camera thinks there is plenty of light) and "fill" your subjects faces with flash so that you can see definition. I have some pictures where I did not use fill flash if you'd like to see them! LOL! When I am taking pictures outside I often use the flash...the fill flash... because you just get a better picture. Fill flash is literally just filling your subject with light. Okey-doke?

How do I manually make my flash react? Didn't realize I could do that, Susan!!

I believe most cameras have a switch for the flash - mine is normally on "auto" but I can change it to off, on (forcing it to flash as above) and red-eye (where it does the funny flash-flash-flash thing before taking teh photo to try and stop red-eye)

I figured out that when I put my camera on Aperature Priority, it allows me to set the flash mode.
Pretty cool!
