Hello! I'm Wendi, a 31 yr. old happily married woman with 3 children. Ages 5, almost 4, and 23 months. I'm a sahm, and have just started into the digital scrapping! I did my 2nd layout for a sketch challenge here, and have found this sooo addicting!
Pretty much new to all this, and got a question........when you are making your layouts, what size do you make them? Also, would the layouts be ok to print and put into a book? Or just for the computer and like. Thanks! And can't wait to get to know you all and learn, lol!!

Welcome Wendi! So glad to have you here! It is addicting, huh?
I create my lo's 12x12 at 300 dpi. I haven't had them printed that large yet, but may some day. I resize my lo's 8x8 and add 2 inches of blank so I can have them printed as 8x10 at Walmart. I'm happy with 8x8 for now, it's actually easier to hold onto that size album, and it's pretty cute.
If you want to print your lo's (or have them printed like I do) you'll need to design them at 200 or 300 dpi for best results. If you only want to view them electronically they can be designed at lower resolutions.
Gee, I hope that my answer hasn't made things more confusing for you! Lol, if so... please ask more questions!

Hi, Wendi! Welcome to GP!
Size of LO's really depends on personal preference. I usually do mine at 12x12, but I scrap to print and it gets kinda pricey since I don't have a wide format printer....I'm thinking of doing them at 8x8 and mounting to 12x12 cardstock after printing. Or just going to 11x8-1/2. Not sure yet.
Jump right in. You're gonna LOVE this place! :D

Welcome! You'll find such great ladies here, and always willing to help you out!
I scrap at 12x12, but then resize to 8x8 to print them.

I have psp8 that I use, but the files are quite large and seem to slow it down a bit.....is there another say scrap program that isn't too much? Thanks again for the info!!

Welcome to GottaPixel, Wendi! Nice to have you here. I do the majority of my layouts 12 x 12 at 300 ppi and then resize them to 8 x 8 if I decide to print. The ones I have printed look great so I'm happy with that. I've never used psp8 -- I use photoshop elements 3 and the files are large also - I'm not sure there's a way around that when you're working with layers. Once a layout is completed, you can merge all the layers (flatten) and then save a .jpg file and reduce the size that way (which is what you end up doing to post in galleries).
Enjoy your new "addiction" -- I know I do!!! :D

Hi Wendi , welcome to the group.
I use psp9 and the files are very large for scrapping so what i do is when i open a paper i reduce it in size right away as i am usually using a 600 x 600 canvas i reduce the papers to just above that size as its easier to work with and doesn't slow psp up as much then. I also dont open to many at once and shut them off as soon as i have used them. usually you can reduce most ellements by 25% and they are still big so i do that with anything i open . hope that helps you some.
ohhh and -
I print out at 8 x 8 as well and start with a 600 x 600 canvas at 300dpi. i print all mine off and have made 3 albums off my photos for xmas pressies for my family well still working on them but they are almost done.
Welcome to Gottapixel !! Hope you jump right in.

Welcome Wendi! I do my layouts 8x8 and have them printed at Costco on photo paper. I've also done some mini 5x7 albums. :-)
