If you could afford to redecorate your house what would you change first? What bugs you the most about your house?
Personally our house needs to be bulldozed and started over
But if I just had to choose a room I would say our lounge - we have pink and white striped wallpaper, the carpet has holes in it, we have an empty boarded up fireplace we hide with the tv, awful spackle stuff on the ceiling that looks like someone has thrown ladle fulls of porridge up onto it.
Really nice huh?

Masterbath needs some work. The tile is getting old, and would love to expand the shower into one of those big, two showerhead jobs. Oh, that would be so nice!!! Actually, I'm not sure the bathroom is big enough for that, but one can dream, right?

The main thing i dont like about this place is i dont have a garden of my own here and because of that i won't be staying here for too long. other than that i think it just needs a freshening up with paint oh and a new carpet in my bedroom but i'd put laminate down if i were staying .

I'd like a bigger kitchen. I need more storage!

If I had to pick one room right now, it would be my great room, which isn't so terribly great right now! It is the last remaining room in the downstairs that we haven't remodeled/redecorated yet. It is very 70's with dark panelling on the walls, a huge fireplace with rust colored brick, fake gray slate on the floor, and a popcorn ceiling. This room is really dark, and desperately needs updating!
Chip replaced the ugly sliding glass doors with real French doors, and they are lovely to open wide when the weather is as beautiful as it has been the last few days.
Y'all WILL be seeing pictures of a remodeling and redecorating SOON--our plan is to paint the panelling, retexture the ceiling, install recessed lighting, install new woodwork, and either put in carpeting or match the wood floors we have in the entry. I would love to do SOMETHING to the fireplace, just haven't figured out what it will be.

I would put my washer and dryer in the main floor instead of the basement

Well, we are just renting, so we can't really do much. But, if we could, I'd put new appliances in the kitchen. We just realized last night that our dinner plates don't fit in the dishwasher. How terrible is that??? :(

Our house is in desparate need of painting! I've been looking at colors, so now there are splotches on the walls of all different colors!

For the most part, I really like our house and we just finally painted the LR and DR so the last of our improvements are done (other than adding a deck next spring).
BUT, if I could change one thing, I would pop the top on our attic side (we have a split level) and put in a master suite. Several of our neighbors have and it's heavenly. :)

well I could use a complete overhaul here -- when I first moved in I started some remodeling...... the house is pretty small but had a full, wide open basement but the entrance of the basement was in my garage! So, I found a place in the house that a stairway would work, had a wall knocked out on the main level, had a bathroom, 2 bedrooms and a family room built in the basement. Then I ran out of $$$$, lol. So now I still need a railing for my stairway, carpet or vinyl to replace the kitchen and old bedroom (the 2 rooms affected with the removal of the wall), doors on the rooms downstairs, etc............. oh, the list goes on! lol

We have an unfinished basement, so I would definitely finish the basement and make sure I made a scrap room/office for myself!!!

I would love a bigger kitchen. There is not enough cabinets, and definately not enough counter space. If there is more than 1 person in there trying to prepare food you get into each other's way.

I'd put the laundry room and the bedrooms all on the same floor, eliminating the steps altogether (sounds like we need a whole new house, huh). And a huge, professional kitchen with tons of storage. Oh and my own private bathroom, that's never occupied when I need it, lol.

We have been doing some redecorating here... and the only room I have left to do is the second guest room. I am decorating it in a Lighthouse theme ... I already have my border paper ready to go... as a matter-a-fact, a piece of it has been taped to the wall so we could decide if we like it or not... lol! So now, I just need to get the paint. My darling hubby informed me the other day that... he has moved EVERY piece of furninture in this house... AGAIN!... lol!

Well, personally I would LOVE to move somewhere else but for now we really can't. About a month ago our roof blew off because when we got siding put on over the summer the man didn't nail the tin back down and on a VERY windy day it blew over half way off. Then once we got it back down good it leaked (just our luck it poured the rain for 3 days). 2 parts kind of bulged down and there are a lot of ugly stains that we need to paint now. I would definately (and will) fix our roof and ceiling back. It doesn't leak anymore, we fixed that. Now it just looks really bad and I HATE it.

We painted and they put in new flooring for us, but if I could change anything I would expand and add a new master bedroom. We're in a two bedroom house and we have two kids. Fortunately, they are both still small and can share, but eventually we'll have a house expansion of some sort....lol :D
