Paint Shop Pro? & Phot Shop Elements 2?

Okay.. I have a silly question.

What is the difference between regular Photo Shop and the Photoshop Elements 2?

Are they the same? I am so lost on how Corel does their programs!

I don't know anything about PSP but as for Photoshop - my understanding is that Photoshop Elements is a scaled down version of Photoshop, which is more of a professional version..... and another significant difference is about $400+ --- Elements costs less than $100 but Photoshop CS2 costs around $500-$600. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong....
