This number game is still going strong, and I’m SO proud of those of you who are trying these puzzles!
About every other PM tells me that math was never any fun before. I'm on a mission to change that! These are fun math puzzles my elementary GT students like to work in competition. Please click HERE (http://www.gottapixel.net/forum/showthread.php?t=6184)for the basic information.
Remember if you figure it out, send me a Private Message with your answer. Do not reveal the answer in this thread as that will end the game for the week. Everyone who gets the right answer and sends it to me between now and Friday night (10-27-06) will win these Fun Funky Numbers:
http://www.gottapixel.net/team/kmhire/kathrynmhire_gottapixel_octnumpreview.jpg
Clues:
It is a three-digit whole number.
One of its digits is 3.
It is an even number.
The ones digit is a square number. (see hint below)
It is greater than 499.
The sum of its digits is 15.
Each of its digits is different.
It is divisible by 6. (see hint below)
Its hundreds digit is greater than its ones digit.
Hints:
A square number is the product you get when you multiply a whole number by itself.
You know a number is divisible by 6 if it is divisible by both 2 and 3. To be divisible by 2, it needs to be even, and you can see if it is divisible 3 by adding up its digits. If that number is divisible by 3, the original number is as well.
Try writing 3 lines on your paper and putting possible numbers under each. Mark out numbers as you go ‘til you get the answer. Take a look at this sample problem (http://www.gottapixel.net/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/24614/cat/500/ppuser/5668)to see what I mean.
I sure hope all of you continue to play. I love getting those PMs and bragging about you in this thread. That means all of you who played before and have the prize still need to jump in there and send me a PM as soon as you figure it out.
If you haven’t played before, now’s a good time to start. Let’s see how active we can make this thread! The puzzles are great, but it's YOU, the players, who make it work! I want to give these Fun Funky Numbers away!
Oh, if you do use the Fun Funky Numbers in a LO, please post it in our gallery and put a link back here. We'd all love to see what you're making, and we don't want to miss a layout!
Have a Funky Good Time with this puzzle!
