Ok forgot to do this when I joined. My name is Ginnie Sherwood and I live in Katy Texas. I have three grown children (1 in Seattle Wash, 1 in Denver colorado and 1 in San Antonio Texas) and 4 grandkids (3 boys and 1 girl) and a GREAT hubby named Jim. I have just started digital scrapbooking and am having a real hard time learning photoshop elements 4 . I have posted one layout that I made with a template. Now I am trying to learn how to make a layout with page kits. So many of the tutorials I have read assume you know more about the program than I do. Plus the tutorials are written for Photoshop 3 or 2 and I have 4. I think it just takes practice practice practice.

Hi Ginnie , It is great to see you here . I hear you with it being hard, i know that feeling but stick at it as it will come and i am sure that more and more tuts will pop up with a bit more help with PSE4.
I am sure if there is something in particular you want to know someone will be able to help so just ask.

Welcome Ginnie
I never got the hang of Photoshop 7 so I bought Digital Image 2006. Way more easy but I doubt that it does half the stuff that the Photoshops can do. You sure came to the right place, I have only been a member for a few days and already it feels like home.

Welcome, Ginnie -- I know EXACTLY how you feel! I started digiscrapping less than 1 yr ago and had never used any editing software before. I bought PSE3 and didn't have a clue what to do with it, lol. Needless to say, it was pretty frustrating in the beginning. I ended up buying a couple books and a couple dvd's and finally got going with it - now I LOVE it and am totally addicted! Holler if you have any questions - it's a great bunch here and we're more than willing to help!!

Hello to a fellow Texan. I'm in the Texas Panhandle. I also have 3 grown kids (all boys) and one of mine is also in the Denver, CO area.
I'm also a newbie who's just learning her software (PSP7 rather than PS or PSE)

Hello Ginnie! :) I understand how you feel. When I started learning Adobe Photoshop 7, I was so intimadated by the number of buttons and icons which I needed to be familiarize with. However, with much patience and perseverance (and tutorials from the Internet!), I was able to somehow get the hang of it. I am now moving towards Adobe PSCS ::).
I hope that with lots of practice and perseverance and patience, you will master the software that you use. Just don't pressure yourself. It is important that you enjoy what you're doing. :)

Hi Ginnie! I'm not sure where Katy Tx is... but I am in the Dallas-Ft Worth area. We're awfully glad you joined us.
I also understand how you feel.. I felt that way in the beginning as well. I use PSE 3.0 and 4.0. (I bought 4.0 about a month or so ago and I'm still familiarizing myself with some of the changes.) Don't get discouraged, you CAN do it. I had never done anthing like this before when I started about 6 mos ago... so if I can do it.. anyone can!... Once I grapsed the "layers" concept.. there was no stopping me... lol! Like some of the other ladies have said... don't get discouraged... be patient... don't hesitate to ask questions.. and read as much as you can. Good Luck and have FuN! :)
It is a pleasure to meet you Ginnie. I felt the same way as you when I got my PSP7 a year ago. Now I can do just about anything I can think of. LOL. I look forward to seeing your layouts.

Thanks for all the great encouragement!! I am learning more all the time. I am going back at it(after I go to my Curves workout) today. I have a stack of tutorials a mile high it seems and each one teaches me a little more. But of all the digital sites I have seen, this is the only one I have posted on. You all are so friendly. I belong to a paper scrapbooking site on Yahoo and love that one too but I REALLY want to learn to digital scrap.
Oh BTW Katy is about 20 miles from downtown Houston, Texas. So HOWDY to all you TEXANS! and thanks to everyone for welcoming me. And I want to warn you now, that you may be sorry you asked me to post my questions. HA!!!

Texas has my heart. I was born there and go every chance I can. My favorite palce is San Antonio. We plan to snow bird there some day.
Photoshop kills me too. I am just catching on. Keep trying it will come. There are so many different ways to do things that is the hard part. Good luck.

Hi and welcome to the group. I understand how hard it is learning these new programs. I haven't seen any tutorials for the program I use so I read and they look for it in mine. I getting there but it does take time I have only been doing this for about 6 months.

Hi Grinnie, again I felt the same way. I use PS7 & element 2. I stated about a year ago But I found help by taking a couple of class at our Vo-tech. It was very helpful & gave just enough knowledge & courage to keep going. The tutorials are great, but I have a better understanding on how to use them after I took the classes. You can do it & It is a lot of fun & easier the more you use the program!
