ADSR - Stop #3

Congratulations, you have found the third challenge on the Amazing Digital Scrapbook Race journey.

This is a regular stop, which means that both racers will need to do their own layout.

Your challenge is simple.

Find the first layout you created that is still uploaded to a gallery and scraplift it using techniques, trends and concepts that you have learned since you did that original layout.

You can...

• You can use a different kit, elements, papers, brushes, shapes, etc.
• You can add and remove elements, papers, etc.
• You can use a different sized canvas.
• You can move things around and change the overall sketch of the layout.
• You can use the first layout uploaded to any gallery. This does not necessarily mean that it's the first layout you ever did.When you view your gallery, at whichever site it is at, it needs to be the first layout uploaded to that gallery. Example: This is my gallery at Gotta Pixel (I have other galleries on other sites). If you go to the very last page, and find the very last image, that is the first layout I uploaded to Gotta Pixel. That is the layout that needs to be used.
  

You can not...

• You can not add additional photos to the layout.
• You can not remove any photos from the layout.
• You can not add additional text to the layout; journaling, alphas that spell out a word, word art, journaling. The only text that appears on the layout must be identical in verbiage to what it was originally. You can change the font, you can convert text into an alpha. If your layout previously used an alpha or wordart, you can convert that alpha/wordart to text or use a new alpha/wordart to spell the same thing. When you are done though, you must have the same words that were on the old layout, on the new layout.

Example:

This is the first layout that I uploaded to my Gotta Pixel Gallery.

This is my redone layout, using a new kit.

When you are done, you must upload your finished layout to the >> NDISB gallery <<.

You will need to post a link to the NDISB gallery in >> your team thread at NDISB <<

Your prize will only be awarded at NDISB.

When you upload, you MUST include a link to the original layout.

It is not required, but we would LOVE to have you share your layouts here at Gotta Pixel. We have an open gallery, which means you can list and link to the kit that you used, even if it's sold elsewhere.

Great Chalenge

A question - in my layout I had changed the picture to black and white - are we able to change it back to colour?

Quick question . . . if I cropped my photos (horribly, I might add) in my original, can I crop them differently in this new challenge?

Yes, you are free to change the crop, color, size, shape of the photo, but it needs to be the original photo.

If I can use the regular photos, what would I do if one regular photo has two crops from it?

Here is my first layout (that is still in a gallery). The circle in the middle with grandma, and the one below it with the face looking up, are from the same photo. So, would I have to have that photo on the page twice?

I see where you say that you can duplicate the photo in the new layout, but can you "unduplicate" a photo in the new layout?

If it's the same photo but it has just been cropped twice or duplicated twice, you may just re-add the original without having to break it up or duplicating it. But make sure one clearly tell that it's the same photo so there is no confusion with disqualification.

Okay I know where my first layout posted was at 3scrapateers, but that was not my very first layout. So do I use the one that was first posted or the very first one I ever did that was never posted anywhere?

Okay, here's a question. I've been digiscrapping since November 2004. The oldest layout I still have in a gallery is from February 2006. But DST didn't exist till July 2006. And I loaded my first layouts up there at random. So my "first" layout there is from June 2006. But it's not my "oldest layout still in a gallery", as that February 2006 one is also at DST. I'd like to use the February one.

Just want to clarify the "first" part. I've posted layouts at many many sites in the past couple years. Say I've posted at Site A, Site B, Site C, etc. When you say the first layout at any gallery, do I get to choose from first layouts posted at Site A, B & C, whichever I'd prefer to redo, or do I choose Site A, because it was the first one I posted a layout at?

You can use the first layout uploaded to any gallery. This does not necessarily mean that it's the first layout you ever did.

what if you no longer have the pictures you used in your 1st layout?

I have a question...what if I no longer have the photos from my first two layouts due to losing them in a HD crash?

the photo i used back then in January 2007 went poof when my hd crashed .. so is it possible to use another photo looking almost the same ?? i have some on a cd

Yes, it has to be the same photo. If you are running into the problem that you no longer have the photo, you may wish to see if you have another gallery that you uploaded layouts to and see what the first layout uploaded there was, or you can try to take the photo from the original layout, but it has to be the same photo.

Are we able to use our first paper layout from a gallery? or will we just have to redo challenge#1?

If you have a paper scrapbook layout uploaded some where, yes, you are more than welcome to use this but via digital means. That would actually be rather creative.

How about the photos? I can't remove or add any photos but can I blend it and use only a part of it as a photo?

If the first photo was blended and masked do we have to maintain the look in the orignal layout or can we revert to the original photo? Thanks

Say the original layout's photo is an extraction, does it count as the same picture if it's not extracted on the new one?

As long as it's very clear that it's the same photo, it is fine

And what about Quick Pages? The first layout I have in a gallery was using a Quick Page. Do I need to redo that one, or can I choose one I did the layout on myself?

Please use the quick page. It's a wonderful way to see how you would have done it now if you hadn't used the quick page originally

Hello I've got a question : I've opened my first gallerie at NDIS for the ADSR4, and the first LO I've uploaded has 1 month old. It wasn't my first LO at all, I've made it recently, so I dont' think my technique has evoluted. Must I do the challenge with it anyway or can I upload now my really first LO ( wich I hadn't uploaded anywere at this time ) ?

Oops, forgot to ask for my partner: her first layout was Challenge #1 for this season??!!! What should she do? She certainly hasn't had time to evolve much in a week.

Also - if your first photo in a gallery is a partial layout (it was a class), but you then post the completed layout in the next photo, can you use the completed one?

My very first uploads to digi galleries were bulk uploads. Can I pick any from that day, or must it be the one that falls first?

You would need to redo that layout as it's the first layout in the gallery. If it's a bulk layout, you must figure out which one uploaded first and that is the one you need to redo. You can pick your gallery, you can not pick your layout.

Question: my original layout had text on journal strips. I am turning one into a title (because there wasn't a title), but the rest I want as regular journalling - which means adding puntuation - specifically a comma, a full stop and an exclamation mark. Is this within the rules? the words themselves have not changed at all.

I presume I cannot add a date, since it wasn't on the original.

Punctuation is fine, but no ABC's So yes, the date is out and can not be added.

i used one picture. I know it says we can't add anymore pictures but can we duplicate that one photo and use it again? Or if there is one pic thats it?

If my first page has 2 photos, but the second is just a duplicate, do we have to use the same number of photos?

As long as it's the exact same image, this is fine.

I have a quick question, the first layout I have at one gallery is a double page layout (but i uploaded them separately), can I redo both pages as a double page and upload it as such?

You will redo the first layout that is in the gallery. If the preview includes both pages, then you'll need to do that, but if it's just one page of a 2 page layout, you will only do that one page.

1. In the original, the ribbon has words printed on it, it was the way it came...do I have to have those words in my LO too?

If the ribbon had the text on it, then no, you do not have to transfer that information to the new redone layout.

2. If the 2 pg LO is posted as one big LO, can we go ahead and change it to a one page LO...as long as it has all of the words and pics on it?

Yes, this is fine. You must make sure that it has all the same text and photos though.

Thanks for the great challenge! I do have a question though, just want to be positive ... my main gallery has my very first digi LO ever, two LO were posted before that one ... my sister actually did them and I was watching (she was introducing me to digiscrapping). They were posted to show what got me hooked on digiscrapping. Is the two-pager considered my first LO (even though my sister did them) or is the third LO in my gallery (my actual first LO) considered my first. (If you need the link to the page containing the photos I'm talking about, please let me know). Thanks!

Good question. I am going to say to go with the first one that you created and make it very clear when you upload that I answered this question here that not using the one's your sister did was acceptable.

Does Flickr count as a gallery? I have on there that I may want to redo. I uploaded to Flickr before I started participating in online scrapping sites.

Any gallery: Flickr, SmugMug, etc. is acceptable.

Great challenge!! I have always wanted to redo my 1st LO, but felt I should not because it was special for being number one. This gives me a great excuse to update it!
