This layout didn't start out as a tribute to Susan Christie Gilmer. It evolved when I pulled out a family history and read a bit about her and the travails she faced. She married at 17, had 10 children and moved halfway across the continent while she was pregnant, traveling by train only 3 weeks before her youngest child was born. She lived in a 300 square foot cabin on a farm with a husband who was never meant to be a farmer. Her twin sons Al and Archie were petty criminals, causing no small amount of scandal. And she lived to the age of 73 despite all of this.
