Uncle Eddie's Cabin
Journaling reads:
Jasper, and more specifically Pyramid Lake in the Rocky Mountains, holds a special spot in Allen's heart. This summer we visited the exact spot where his Uncle Eddie used to have a cabin. He leased this spot from the government, initially for 99 years, but the contract was bought out in ~1963 when the area was "preserved", so no homes can be located around the area. Before that happened, Allen remembers several wonderful summer holidays spent visiting his Uncle with the whole family! The lake, just meters from where the cabin used to stand, is unchanged except some sand has been brought in. The water remains as cold as ever from the mountain run-off. Basically each of the cabin sites were turned into a picnic area with parking lot. So many memories!
In this picture, Allen is standing where the backdoor of the cabin used to be. He remembers at age 5, racing aback to the cabin after a boat ride on the lake with his cousins, only to find a couple of black bears also checking out the back door to the cabin!! Needless to say, a fast loud reverse of running occurred! Bears were frequently seen there due to the town dump being fairly close.
