School Days
This photo was taken in 1956, not long before I got sick and spent some time in hospital, there were boys also in the grade but because there were so many of us, we had separate photos. Take note 31 girls and there would have been at least that many boys if not more. That makes over 60 in the class, seemed normal in those days and we did all get a good education. Favorite teachers were Sister Ambrose (prep to grade 2) and Mrs Martin grade 3. We used to get a small bottle of milk each day and in winter the Nuns would warm it up and put
cocoa in it for us to drink. I still love milk and warm
cocoa.. Worst teach was in grade 5 (can’t remember her name -
she was just too old to be teaching). My school went from
prep to Form 2 (year 8) in those days and then we all moved on to other schools to complete our eductions.
