Journaling: ah-LEE-sha or ah-LEE-see-uh: both of German and French origin meaning noble, kind; of the noble sort.
What is in a name? When our parents choose our names do they know if we will grow into them? People often say that you look like a Bob or a Suzy or that you don’t. What does a Bob or a Suzy or even an Alicia look like? Do I look like an Alicia? Who knows, growing up I never objected to my name but often wished I had a cool name that would have had an even better nick name. As I got over I learned all of the fun of my name both with spelling and the pronunciation. I had one professor for two classes back to back who was also my advisor. In the first class he pronounced it ah-LEE-sha (they way I do) and then turn right around in the second class and pronounce it ah-LEE-see-uh. This would always crack me up. So have I grown into my name? Who knows, but am I comfortable with who I am with that name? After so many years yeah and I would not change it at this point in my life for anything.
