Journaling reads: This is my first pair of hand-made, knitted socks!! I had tried making some at Christmas
time with Mom’s help but my gauge was way too big and it was difficult with the double-pointed needles. I visited the yarn store in Dearborn and explained the problem I had and Terri explained the Portuguese knitting method which allowed me to keep my gauge correct without hurting my hands. I use this technique exclusively. I also use the magic loop method and knit two socks at one time.
