On December 12, 2006 I took the last photos ever on my beloved Canon PowerShot G5. Little did I know when I took those photos that they would indeed be the last... but fate has a funny way of playing with us.

On December 23, 2006, the kitty cat decided to use my G5 as it’s play toy and pulled it off the table. I remember hearing the thud as it hit the floor, and the despair of knowing what it was that had just hit the floor. I walked over, slowly, fearing the worse. It looked okay... but was it?! I pressed the on button, and instantly I knew my little baby was hurt... hurt and crippled! The lens would no longer open, sending the poor camera into a fit of grumbles and whirls and groans. It was so distressing!

The camera served me well. It took well over 3,000 photos. It documented birthdays and holidays. It captured my daughter dancing and singing and laughing. It caught her smile in a thousand different poses. It memoralized so many moments in our lives and I’m forever greatful to have the opportunity to own a camera that served me so well.

Rest in peace my friend...
