I did this for the for the Australia Day Inspiration Challenge at PBP – Celebration of where I live. There is so much I love about Spain that it was hard to narrow it down! Here I am showing (starting from the top left hand corner):
- San Lorenzo celebrations. The doll is made of different flower pots and dressed in the traditional colours of white and green for the festivities celebrating the patron of our city
- Paella! I love this dish! To really taste a great paella you need to try a home cooked one. My MIL makes the best paella!
- Antonio Banderas! He is still one of my favs!
- My nephew! I shouldn’t have favourites, but this little one won my heart from the first day we met when he was only 2.5 years old!
- My dear husband! Love him to death! And he is so handsome!
- The bull. I am against bullfighting, but it’s one of the national emblems!
- The Roman Theatre in Mérida. This is only a portion of what is left. It dates back to when Mérida was an important part of the Roman Empire. And just a bit of trivia, Russell Crowe’s character in Gladiator, Maximus, was from here!
- Flamenco dancing. This is María Pagés. Considered to be the best Flamenco dancer in Spain.
- Gypies and music. Everywhere you go in Spain, especially in the south, you are bound to see gypsies singing and dancing for the tourists. Real entertainers they are!
