Throughout our lives we all collect something. When I was younger I collected cat figurines, and I had hundreds of them. I didn’t really start the collection, my mother did, and I think she lived vicariously through me with that collection. Now I don’t necessarily collect the same things; I collect photography equipment and a lot of messy papers around my desk, but that’s about it So for today’s prompt I borrowed my daughter’s collection, one that she invented and harbored and grew all on her own. Shells. She has hundreds of them in her room.

Documenting collections are important, because you can’t always guarantee that you’ll have them. My cat collection was lost in a storage unit mishap some 15 years ago, with nothing but my memory to remember them. I don’t know if my daughter will eventually outgrow her shell collection, but if she does, I have photos of it for her to see in later days.
